Excellent article challenging the pre supposition that excess fat production is related to excess caloric intake.

The author asserts that there is an underlying endocrine system error that hyper actualizes the storage and accumulation of fat cells, and inhibits their release.

The view that excess fat creation and storage is a physiological issue and not a moral failure / lack of discipline is an important watershed for science to begin to ask the right questions and create the right studies.

The mice referred to in this article are the ob/ob mutation , and will continue to produce fat cells even when starving. Ob/ob Mice It is their inability to produce Leptin that makes them obese.
